Evan Hawkins, MA, MFT

Psychotherapist

*"All our joy and misery starts and ends with people"*

About

Evan is a Marriage and Family Therapist in LA's South Bay area and has been practicing for over 25 years. He made Los Angeles his home in the late 1980's, married Donna, an environmental attorney, and became a psychotherapist. The rest is history, as they say.In brief, he grew up in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, a culturally-rich world unfortunately overshadowed by political upheaval and violence. These circumstances culminated in his being conscripted as a medic in the ever-present civil war. Escape from chronic conflict and a desire for a more peaceful society brought him to the US. Seeking internal as well as external change, he undertook his own psychotherapy in the US.The growth Evan experienced in therapy inspired him to become a psychotherapist, to help those searching to improve their life through the creation of more meaningful relationships. His approach is synthesized from his training and his personal evolution, and is based on his belief that most current problems stem from an earlier time in our lives.

Practice

Unhealed childhood wounds reverberate throughout our suffering. From anxiety, depression, obsessions, addiction, through loneliness and broken relationships. All are forms of our earliest despair. The therapeutic relationship provides a way for us to transcend our past and restore our ability to have the kind of relationships we all need and deserve.
